I have just published tutorial 04 in my Eyes of the Dragon 4.0 tutorial series. This tutorial is all about the tile engine. It is almost a direct port from my game, Silver Prophet. However, there are a few subtle differences. For example, I allow for scaling the map and having a free-moving camera in Silver Prophet. Those are not features that I included in this tutorial. You can find the link to the tutorial on the Eyes of the Dragon 4.0 page, or you can access it through this direct link.
What’s Next?
Today is going to be about my games. It is #screenshotsaturday, and I want to share something new this week. If I do work on a tutorial, it will be on A Summoner’s Tale. I do want to add an Android project before going much further. Also, I want to expand the editor to save and load maps. I will try to have a tutorial on one of those topics in the next few days.
My Projects
It feels like my only projects are my tutorials. I need to change that, though. I need to make some headway on Shadow Monsters. I’m just a little stuck on the content part. I need to create Shadow Monsters that match my game assets. I don’t know how I want to tackle that. Well, I have a general idea. However, I need to define it better before I start throwing code around.
Final Thoughts
Since going on Christmas break, I’ve been on fire. I’ve made all kinds of progress on tutorials and my projects. However, I’m worried that I won’t be able to keep up the pace and burn out again. To that end, I might slow down a bit on the tutorials. I might drop them down to one a week rather than several a week. That may length them, but it is worth the extra work as long as you read them.
