I first want to say sorry it took so long. However, I have shared tutorial 39. As I’ve mentioned this tutorial covers creating characters in the map editor. Also, it covers saving the map and loading the map back. I will be covering loading the map into the game in another tutorial. You can find the tutorial on the Eyes of the Dragon 3.0 page of the blog. Also, you can find the tutorial at this direct link.
What’s Next
I want to get a jump on the battle engine. For that I will need to extend entities or add in classes for mobs. I’m probably going to go the latter route. Changing the entity class again will break too much. Mobs do deserve a class of their own as well. So, the next tutorial will likely be adding mobs. I will also sneak in loading maps into the game. I’m busy much of tomorrow so it won’t be up tomorrow. Maybe Thursday, depending on how much the code cooperates.
My Projects
I’m still struggling with banner ads and Android. I just can’t get them to disappear. At this point I’m ready to scrap them and go back to interstitial ads. They also break user experience but I need ads of some sort. At this point I just want the project to be over and go to the next project. I don’t want to abandon it though. I want to see it through to completion.
Lost Fate is an incomplete game that I was working on. I decided to shelve it for personal reasons. It requires cards more than anything. Also, I needed to come up with a way to make it player vs player. I’ve come up with that in the form of an arena. I also needed a way to monetize it, which I have. It is now the matter of finishing it.
Final Thoughts
So, it took a while to finish this tutorial. Two days I didn’t work on it though so it’s not so bad. Quintessential Duels has stalled but I have a plan to get over the hurdle I’m facing. The remaining work isn’t programming, it’s polish.
I encourage you to keep visiting the blog for the latest news on my tutorials and other goodness.
