I have just shared MonoGame RPG tutorial 37. So sorry for the delay in getting it up on the site. I’ve been so busy trying to get my environment the way that I like it and fine tuning it. Anyway, this tutorial goes back to the map editor. It covers placing animated tiles, painting collision areas and saving the map. The original tutorial didn’t cover loading and I will be covering that soon. You can find the link to the tutorial on the Eyes of the Dragon 3.0 page of the site. Also, you can use this direct link.
What’s Next
So, there are a few things that I want to cover in the MonoGame RPG tutorials. One is placing NPCs in the map editor. Another is creating a conversation editor so you don’t have to code conversations manually. The last is loading everything into the game and the editors. Since there are multiple editors now, and more coming, I used the plural form. I do want to do the web tutorials. However, the MonoGame tutorials are by far more popular. It could just be because there is so much more content.
My Projects
With my laptop setup now I’m going to turn my attention back to my projects. My primary focus will be Quintessential Duels. It is so close to being done. I might issue an open beta on Windows before releasing the Android version. Hopefully get some feedback on it, as my initial alpha didn’t have much response. Which reminds me, I need to install INNOSetup on this laptop and transfer over the installation script. I like it a lot more than the publish feature in Visual Studio.
Final Thoughts
It is good to finally be done porting the XNA tutorials to MonoGame. Now I can start adding new content. With my new laptop productivity should go up as I’ve found development time is going down the more used to it I get. So, I encourage you to keep visiting the blog for the latest news, tutorials and other goodness.
