I have been working on the next Eyes of the Dragon 4.0 tutorial. It is shaping up slowly. I need some mechanics in order to create the combat system. Therefore, this tutorial covers creating the basics of the role-playing system and creating a character. I won’t get to combat in this tutorial because I will still be missing one piece, which is something to fight against.
What’s Next?
As mentioned above, the next tutorial will be an Eyes of the Dragon 4.0 tutorial covering creating the player’s character. It includes the basics of the role-playing mechanics, and that is the SPECIAL system. SPECIAL stands for Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intellect, Agility and Luck. There is also health, which is equal to Strength times Endurance. The other derived stat is mana, which is equal to Intellect times Perception.
My Projects
I have done a bit of work on Shadow Monsters, but not a lot. I’ve been busy with human interaction. It is just as time consuming as software development when done properly. I’d like to think that I am doing well. Still, it is not game programming, and I miss it. So I will be spending the evening talking to computers instead of humans.
Final Thoughts
Life can be a challenge. It is hard to balance all of the pieces in play. First, I want to work on my start-up. Then, I want to work on my tutorials. Finally, I want to interact with people in different ways. That’s why I haven’t finished a tutorial in a while. It is hard to give all the balls in the air the same amount of time. I missed mentioning some important ones like work-life, basic human activities, and more. I will be back tomorrow with another game programming adventure.
