Happy Friday! Do you know what that means? No work for the next three days. For the next two days, I will be working on projects and tutorials. For tutorials, I will be working on Eyes of the Dragon and A Summoner’s Tale. Then, time permitting, I will work on the third Forest Rush tutorial. I will also be working on Eyes of Ishanti over the weekend.
What’s Next?
Good question! I’m glad that you asked. As I said above, the next two tutorials will be for Eyes of the Dragon and A Summoner’s Tale. They will be nearly identical, covering the exact same topic. That is having conversations with characters. I plan to work on A Summoner’s Tale first, then Eyes of the Dragon. After that, if I get to it, the Forest Rush tutorial will be about collision detection with tile. So lots of good stuff is coming down the pipe.
My Projects
My main project continues to be Eyes of Ishanti. It is a fantasy platformer based mainly in a forest setting. However, there will be other settings, a castle, a dungeon, and mountains. I have the player wandering around the map almost how I want it. Right now, I’m perfecting ladders between platforms. I have several enemies for the player to defeat: a goblin, a dragon, a beholder and a bear. My plan for the evening is to add at least two more enemies, hopefully, three. Otherwise, I need to start work on the level editor.
Final Thoughts
To say that things did not go well this week would be a dramatic understatement. Still, I did get some work in on Eyes of Ishanti and a bit on tutorials, but not a lot. I’m not going to let it influence my weekend, though. Hopefully, I will finish those two tutorials and get a good start on the third. I will have to see what is in the cards. I am going to wrap this up here. Good luck with your game programming adventures!
