Well, the title says it all. Unfortunately, there will be no new tutorial tonight. I’m close, but I don’t see myself being able to finish it. I was working on the second Forest Rush tutorial. It was going well up until I got to jumping. I know that is something simple, but the answer is eluding me. So, I am taking a break to write this. It is amazing how often you devise a solution to a problem when you take a break from it.
What’s Next?
Obviously, the next tutorial is going to be in Forest Rush 3.8.1. It adds a little more infrastructure, but minimally. Other than that, it is all about running and jumping. Running is working well. Jumping is another story. The code is firing to trigger a jump, but beyond that, nothing. There is a little bit of state management where the sprite is concerned—keeping track if it is running, idle, or jumping.
My Projects
I have done some work on the Eyes of Inashti. I had meant to take a quick break from it, but before I knew it, I was three-quarters of the way through Forest Rush 3.8.1 tutorial two. There was also work which kept me from doing either. What I was doing was rather tedious, adding content to the game. My eyes were getting drier than a dessert. So, I got up to get some water, and when I returned, I started up tutorial two.
Final Thoughts
I wanted to finish a tutorial tonight. However, that just wasn’t in the cards. Mainly for reasons I’ve already talked about. I am going to spend a little time on the Eyes of Inashti before calling it a night. If the answer to the problem I’m having with jumping presents itself, I will, of course, work that out as well. I wish you well in your game programming adventures.
