I started working on tutorial seventeen in my A Summoner’s Tale tutorial series. This tutorial begins work on the combat engine, allowing battles between two shadow monsters. This combat is like the retro-pokemon games, where it is one-on-one battles. Unless, of course, it was a trainer battle where you could have up to six pokemon. I’ve been fleshing out the data classes we will use to save and load shadow monsters. I want to ensure they are as complete as possible so I don’t have to go back and make alterations.
What’s Next
As you’ve gathered, the next tutorial is in the A Summoner’s Tale series, particularly on the combat engine. I will borrow from my Shadow Monsters series because it will use the conversation component we have created so far. After this tutorial, I will start work on tutorial twelve in the Eyes of the Dragon 4.0.
My Projects
I did a little work yesterday. However, I spent much more time playing a game. Well, it is an app for learning languages. I have decided to pick up French. On Sundays, you progress to the next league if you are in the top seven. I was determined to advance. Also, I decided that I wanted to rank first. I achieved both goals. It killed my battery to do it, and I had to do the last hour plugged in.
Final Thoughts
It has been a slow Monday. I spent most of it brushing up on Tkinter, the Python GUI library. I am starting a new project using it, so it was a good use of my time at work. Tutorial-wise, it was a great weekend. I hope to carry the momentum over to the next weekend. I wish you good luck with your game programming adventures.
