A Summoner’s Tale Tutorial 0A Status

What? 0A? Are you a little confused? No, I’m not confused. I decided to number the tutorials in hexadecimal. Please don’t ask me why. I don’t totally know. It was just a whim. Anyway, odd numbering aside. I did work on that tutorial a bit today. I am about half finished. I realized I would not finish before bed. So, I put it on hold to write a brief status update. The tutorial’s primary focus is adding a character generator for the play to select their name, gender and sprite. I plan on wrapping up the tutorial and posting it on the blog. If all you’re interested in is the code, it is up on Git Hub now.

What’s Next

Of course, there is finishing tutorial ten. Tutorial eleven most likely won’t be until sometime next week. I have plans that will have me out for the weekend. Depending on how the writing goes, I might have something up Sunday. That most likely won’t happen, though. Also, I need to come up with a topic. I will worry about that bridge when I get to it. There is, of course, the editor, but I think you might have had about as much of the editor as you can stand, at least for a couple more tutorials. I might add NPCs for the player to interact with, maybe even conversation with them.

My Projects

My primary focus seems to be my tutorials and blog. However, they are important to me, so I am investing time in them. I do some work on Shadow Monsters, but it is slow going. It is because it is mainly on content creation at the time. That doesn’t have the same appeal as programming and writing. True, a good chunk of content is conversation, plotline, etc. However, I have the plotline pretty much firmed up in my head.

Final Thoughts

I’m enjoying riding the wave that writing tutorials again has brought. But I know why I stopped. Work was incredibly busy with so many projects on the go. That doesn’t explain what kept me away, though. There was something, but I won’t go into it here. What matters is that I’m back and that the one thing keeping me away is no longer an issue. So anyway, I’m going to wrap this up here.

Good luck with your game programming adventures!
