A Summoner’s Tale Tutorial 09 Status

Well, I’ve been working hard on tutorial 09 in my A Summoner’s Tale series. Unfortunately, while I would like to finish it tonight, I don’t see it happening. There is just too much to do yet. However, it will be up tomorrow for sure. I have the code written and working. After that, it is a matter of writing the tutorial. It won’t be more than a few hours. I have to wind down, though, as it is getting on in time, and I have to work in the morning. I would have had a little more time if I didn’t write this, but I still wouldn’t have had the time to post the tutorial.

What’s Next?

Well, first, there will be tutorial 09 posted tomorrow morning or tomorrow evening. It goes back to the editor but with some good effects, namely displaying a map in the editor and a flyout menu that can be toggled. After this tutorial, I will bounce back to the game. I will implement the flyout menu there too. After that, I haven’t decided where I will head. Then, there is the character generator and the player object. Both need to be done, and we will have all the components for it. Also, there are NPCs and conversation components. So, as you can see, there are a few ways I can go. I will decide when it comes time.

My Projects

I am itching to return to my version of Summoner’s Tale, Shadow Monsters. I finally have some inspiration on how to tackle the animated monsters. I, of course, know how to create animated monsters. What I was struggling with was integrating it into the battle engine. It was only designed for static images; I needed a way to incorporate that into my game. Also, I need to create all new monsters, as I only had static images for shadow monsters until recently.

Final Thoughts

I’m making progress on both my tutorials and projects. It is great to see progress made on both fronts. Looking at my stats, my readers are returning now that I am back posting content and tutorials. I want to thank you for reading my tutorials. I’m trying to remove the ads. They are stubborn, though, and I can’t track down the last location on the admin board. I encourage you to keep coming back to the blog for more game programming goodness.

Good luck with your game programming adventures!
