A Summoner’s Tale Tutorial 07 Update

So, I’ve worked hard the past two nights on tutorial 07 in my new series, A Summoner’s Tale. Well, it wasn’t too hard last night because I had to be up very early. Tonight I made much more progress. However, there is one thing that isn’t very well-behaved. Once it is, it won’t take much effort to wrap up the tutorial. It will be finished tomorrow, for sure. I would be working on it now, but I need to not look at it for a bit. Then, the answer will leap to mind. I find it often that way. Just take a break. Look at something else for a while, and then the answer will present itself. Imagine that. Talking about it had the answer leap to mind! I solved that problem but am presented with a new one. I will solve that one, though. That one leapt to mind as well. So, that will leave the writing tomorrow. Hopefully, I will be finished not too long after breakfast.

What’s Next?

Well, obviously, there is finishing tutorial 07. And that tutorial covers adding an animated sprite for the player to control. In addition, it updates moving about the map with the sprite triggering the camera to move around. After that, I thought I would move on to saving and loading game settings or something else entirely. But, you know how we women can be. I would need to add a spin box for cycling through screen resolutions for what I most want to do, which is to start handling different resolutions in the game. We will see what kind of mood I am in tomorrow.

My Projects

Shadow Monsters has been in a holding pattern recently. I know what I want to do. It is just a matter o getting there. Working on A Summoner’s Tale has been a bit of a distraction. A good distraction, though, as writing has been really good for me. Behind game programming, it is my number two passion. Getting to combine the two of them is the best thing ever. So probably, rather than just moving on to a new tutorial, I will spend some time with Shadow Monsters. It has been feeling a bit neglected lately—poor little Shadow Monsters.

Final Thoughts

You never know–I may finish the tutorial tonight, though probably not. I was up quite early, and it was a long day at work. Plus, my WiFi was hacked. So I had to join my myriad of devices to the network. There are still a few that haven’t made it yet. I will get there, though. That is it for tonight. I’m looking forward to getting better acquainted with my bed.

Good luck with your game programming adventures!
