MonoGame RPG Tutorial 60 – Update

So, yesterday did not go according to plan. There was a problem with the modem, and I had to wait for it to be replaced and configured. Thankfully, it has been resolved, and the internet seems more stable than it was before the modem was replaced. However, I ended up not working on the tutorial again yesterday. It looks like it will be the weekend before I have the opportunity to work on it again, though. If I can, I will, but there is too much that needs doing and not enough hours in the day.

On another note, the spam comments continue. I’m sure it is a spam bot as now even the IP addresses are varying between comments. It is still consistently one of two names, though, which leads me to think it is a spam bot. Also, the comments themselves make no sense for the area of the blog they are posted. For example, where on my blog do I talk about health insurance?

Continuing on, my new glasses continue to be amazing. Unfortunately, I’m still having a problem with smaller fonts. However, I can accommodate for that. It is the proverbial night and day. With the vision issues resolved, I’m more inclined to spend time typing from the computer.

What’s Next?

I am unsure when, but the idea is to finish MRG Tutorial 60, which is about quests. I am about two-thirds of the way through it. However, I hit a snag that I need to resolve. Hopefully, I can wriggle the hook lose quickly and without needing to backtrack too much. After quests, I am not sure what I am going to work on as far as tutorials are concerned. I’ve been putting off working on editors for a while now. So, I think that is the next logical step, though hardly exciting.

My Projects

I do have a project in mind. However, it has nothing to do with game programming. I work as a solution architect, and that part is okay. However, the editor that connects to our product is archaic, to say the least. I want to develop a nicer, more modern editor that is more productive. For example, there isn’t any sort of code completion. There is at least syntax highlighting, and the font is customizable, which has been huge for how my eyes have been before the new glasses. So, I have a few ideas on how to build a more modern replacement editor.

Final Thoughts

So, having my new glasses has had a considerable impact. I can go longer without having to take a break for my eyes. Being able to see clearly has had an enormous impact on my productivity as well. The weekend didn’t go as planned for many reasons, but it was a good weekend. I’m hoping this swing in productivity keeps up and pours into my tutorials and projects. So, I hope you will keep coming back to read the blog for the latest news on my tutorials and other goodness.

Good luck with your game programming adventures.
