This week was really rough, so I didn’t work much on tutorials. Today, though, I devoted my morning to finishing MonoGame RPG tutorial 60. As I mentioned in my earlier posts, this tutorial is about adding quests to the game. It is the first of multiple tutorials that will deal with quests. I’m hoping that it may only be two, but it might be three or four. You can find the link to the tutorial on the Eyes of the Dragon page of the site. Also, you can find it at this direct link.
What’s Next?
What I will be working on as far as tutorials are concerned is more on quests. I want to add a mechanism to display current quests. Also, I want to show a reward screen when a quest is finished. Also, I need to make a few updates to the conversation system. Each time you talk to an NPC, it returns to the first conversation, not where you left off. However, it does allow for the player to get the same quest multiple times. I will address all of these issues in MonoGame RPG Tutorial 61. I don’t think I will get to it this weekend, but I do hope to have it up next weekend.
My Projects
I do want to work on my editor for work. I have ideas on how to do it. It is mainly a matter of finding the time to do it. Also, I want to work on a game other than Eyes of the Dragon. I might spin up the editors for Silver Prophet and work on maps, which is mainly what I need to do. I could work on Forest Rush, though. I don’t know. I will have to see what the day brings. There are things that I want to do outside of coding.
Final Thoughts
It was great to finish this rather long tutorial. I’m sorry that it took two weeks to get it up. I was busy for most of last weekend, and I didn’t have the energy to work on it this week. At least the issue with my eyes is mainly solved with my new glasses. I still have some problems, but they are not nearly as pronounced as before. I hope to work on the next tutorial over the next week and post it next Saturday. So, I encourage you to keep coming back to the blog for the latest news on my tutorials and other goodness.
Good luck with your game programming adventures!
