Just Checking In

So, I just wanted to check in because it has been a while since I made a post. Work has kept me busy, and I have been getting back up to speed in the evenings. I am taking the day off tomorrow for a long-overdue optometrist appointment. Also, it is Thanksgiving weekend this weekend. So, I don’t know how much time I will have for tutorials. I hope to be able to spend a few hours tomorrow or Saturday on one, though. Sunday I will be at my sister’s place for dinner. Monday, though a holiday here, I will be going over a workshop that I did today. I wasn’t able to give it my full attention, and I want to do it justice.

What’s Next?

The plan is to display character stats and fix the health and mana/stamina bug I introduced. I know that character stats are displaying currently. However, I want something a bit better looking. To that end, I modified the image from the inventory state to display the character stats. I don’t think that the tutorial will take more than a couple of hours, and I hope that with the time I want to devote to it, I will finish the tutorial.

My Projects

Besides work and tutorials, I want to work on my personal projects again. I did load Silver Prophet last night and ran through what I have developed so far. I didn’t test the combat engine, though. That is because I want to change the way that it works. I want to switch from a party of up to five to a party of up to three. The party members will be in a line. The first party member will be a tank/damage unit, the second a ranged unit, and the last a support unit. I am doing this because I have backgrounds that will work well.

Final Thoughts

It is great to be back to work in an “office” again. It means less time for tutorials and projects, though. But, it is something that I needed to do. I am happy that the company contacted me back in August asking if I would be willing to return. It was a gruelling interview process, but it was well worth it. It is a bit of an adjustment, though. I often feel tired during the day and am tempted to sign off and take a nap. That is not something that I would do, though. So, I encourage you to keep coming back to the blog for the latest news on my tutorials and other goodness.

Good luck with your game programming adventures!
