MonoGame RPG Tutorial 52 – Status

First, I was busy for most of the day, away from home. That said, I did get some work done on the next tutorial in my MonoGame RPG tutorial series, Eyes of the Dragon. The focus of this tutorial is gaining gold and experience. In order to gain experience, I add a bunch of other mobs to fight. Unfortunately, they are all still bandits because I didn’t want to search for sprites this morning. There are approximately 25 of them, though. So, more than enough to level up the player. I also added in potions that heal the player’s health, mana or stamina. I hope to finish the tutorial tomorrow. However, I am away again for most of the day, and it might be Saturday it is online.

What’s Next?

As I just finished, the next thing coming up is tutorial 52 in Eyes of the Dragon. It will cover gaining experience, gold, potions, and levelling up. After this tutorial, I will be doing a little cosmetic work. For example, I want to add a screen that displays the player’s vitals. Also, I want to add a screen for levelling up now that the player will gain experience. After that, I don’t have a clear plan. I will look at the game, compare it to other games I play, and pick a favourite feature.

My Projects

For the first, in what feels like ages, I worked on a project of mine. I didn’t get all that far in, though. I need to work on conversations, and my editor is broken. So, I need to rebuild it, but I got discouraged by the amount of work required. I will look at it again on the weekend.

Final Thoughts

The latest tutorial is coming along well. I’m easing back into my projects, though I am discouraged by the amount of work I have to redo. I’m waiting, rather impatiently, for something to come through. It is only supposed to take a day or two, but it has been nearly a week. Granted, I did submit it during a long weekend so, that means it may take longer. Still, the waiting is killing me. So, please keep coming back to the blog for the latest news on my tutorials and other goodness.

Good luck with your game programming adventures!
