MonoGame RPG Tutorial 49 Is Live

I have just shared MonoGame RPG Tutorial 49 in my Eyes of the Dragon tutorial series on my Google Drive. This tutorial dives a little deeper into the combat engine. First, fixing a bug in the damage effects for spells and talents. Then, I also add a logger that logs the attacks made by the player and the mob. It still needs a little work, but it does function as I had expected. Finally, I added in a bit more equipment that the player could buy from the merchant. You can find the link to the tutorial on my blog’s Eyes of the Dragon page, or you can use this direct link.

What’s Next?

Up next will be another tutorial on the combat engine. Some ideas are brewing in my head that I want to implement. Also, I do need to balance items so that a long sword will actually damage a full set of chain mail, which it should. It might do limited damage against a full set of plate mail, though. I hope to have that tutorial up on Wednesday. However, it might not be until Saturday that I can get it on the blog.

My Projects

I didn’t work on my project today. Instead, I worked on my lesson for tomorrow. Usually, my lessons are on Monday. However, with the holiday here today, I pushed the lesson to tomorrow. I do intend to work on Silver Prophet, though. I was just busy with the tutorial and the lesson, instead. It feels like an age has passed since I have worked on it. Instead, I was working on Lost Fate. That is at an impasse until I can get funding, hopefully through Kickstarter. I want to give myself time to plan out a campaign before venturing down that path. Possibly even hire somebody to write it for me.

Final Thoughts

Not much to add today. I’m, of course, happy to have another tutorial up on the blog. Also, I made excellent progress on my lesson for tomorrow. My student will enjoy it. Finally, I did create a Linux Mint partition on my laptop so I can work on releasing packages for Debian distributions of Linux. So, please keep visiting the blog for the latest news on my tutorials and other goodness.

Good luck with your game programming adventures!
