MonoGame RPG Tutorial 34

MonoGame RPG Tutorial 34

I have just uploaded tutorial 34 in my MonoGame RPG tutorial series Eyes of the Dragon. This tutorial adds a bit of eye candy in so far as there is a character on the map for the player to interact with. While it does not actual do the conversation the code for starting it is in place. You can find the link to the tutorial on the Eyes of the Dragon 3.0 page of the site. Also, it can be found at this direct link.

What’s Next

Up next will be tutorial 35 in the MonoGame RPG tutorial series. In that tutorial we will actually have a conversation with our NPC. That will leave two tutorials. One on animated tiles and the other on adding animated tiles with the editor. After that will be new content and not just ports of the old XNA tutorials to MonoGame. One topic that I will be covering will be quests. Then it will be combat. I’m thinking an I hit you then you hit me back system on a separate state. Also, real time combat is an option. Will decide that over the next few days as I wrap up the tutorial.

My Projects

My main focus is still Quintessential Duels. I am going to keep it the way it is, for now. One thing that I am going to change is the graphics and the tutorial. That is because the main graphic I’m going to change is the battle background. While it is functional and guides the player it is ugly. I want something more attractive. Also, I will be updating the main menu and options menu. With those changes I will be able to deploy version one. At the point I don’t plan to do a version two. Instead I am going to start work on Last Fate, another trading card game. However, it is more suited to some of the things I wanted to implement in Quintessential Duels.

The other alternative would be to work on Shadow Monsters, though I want to change the name. I’m just not sure how to monetize it other than selling it. One option would be to allow for multiplayer and buying items with real money that affect the game in some way.

Final Thoughts

So, porting the tutorials from XNA to MonoGame went well. There are only three left to port. I should finish them up over the next few days. I am almost ready to deploy Quintessential Duels. That will be a relief.

So, I encourage you to keep visiting the blog. I will have more tutorials and other goodness.
