Status Update

I didn’t work any one other tutorials yesterday or today. Instead, I worked on my projects. I made some solid progress on my projects. Things are shaping up quite well as far as they are concerned. As a result, I am close to reaching a release date for Quintessential Duels. I finally resolved the annoying issue I was having with a white screen displaying before my game loads on Android. For some reason the template for MonoGame 3.8 has changed. The default splash screen was removed so there was none being loaded. I copied the code from the MonoGame 3.7.1 template and the splash screen appears instead of the white screen! Now I just need an attractive splash screen but I can live with that problem.

What’s Next

The plan for tomorrow is to write the animation tutorial for the MonoGame For The Absolute Beginner tutorial series. I’d also like to work on the next tutorial in the web game programming tutorial series depending on how quick the MonoGame For The Absolute Beginner tutorial takes. It will also be about animation. After that will be more Eyes of the Dragon tutorials.

My Projects

It is full steam ahead on Quintessential Duels. The alpha is available at this link. Resolving the big issue that I was having with Android and the splash screen was a pleasant surprise. I made great progress on the tutorial for Quintessential Duels today, before my computer crashed. I should be able to pick up where I left off easily enough. Seeing Quintessential Duels near the end leaves me wondering what’s next. I’m thinking of reviving an old web project but in React instead of MVC. There is always Silver Prophet, which is definitely a possibility. I might also revisit Shadow Monsters, though change the name.

Final Thoughts

It was a good day. Quintessential Duels is pretty much done and ready for release. I took a brief break from tutorials but I’m ready to get back at it tomorrow. I see more people finding their way to the blog which makes me happy. So, keep coming back for more tutorials and other goodness.
