Phase Shift
So, my entry to #weeklygamejam 186 is called Phase Shift. It will be a short RPG. I have been working hard at it and making good progress. I’ve been bogged down in the editor making my first map. I am slowly making progress. Since the theme of the jam is alternative perspectives I have decided that the player character can change their perspective on the world. When their perspective changes the map changes revealing new objects. As well as revealing new object, changing perspective changes the map tiles. I made a fade effect for the transition.
What’s Next
My focus is going to be on the game jam for the next week so I won’t be working on tutorials. When I do get back to tutorials I will be focusing on the Eyes of the Dragon tutorials. The current plan is to finishing porting them from XNA to MonoGame. I have decided on how I am going to handle the map editor. For that I will be using a NuGet package that allows you to host MonoGame inside of a windows form. I am using it in Phase Shift and it works quite nicely. So, it just means that I will have to basically rewrite the editor, which is okay.
My Projects
For the next week I will be working on Phase Shift. I may continue it on from the demo version depending on how it goes. So, Psibernetic Games web site and Quintessential Duels are on hold for the immediate future. I will be circling back to them after the Phase Shift demo is done.
Final Thoughs
I am really enjoying working on the game jam. It has been a very nice diversion and I did need it. I will be posting more videos as I go of the game plan. So, keep visiting the blog for more news on my tutorials and for other goodness.
