MonoGame RPG Tutorials 21 and 22
I shared tutorials 21 and 22 in my MonoGame RPG Tutorial series Eyes of the Dragon. Tutorial 21 focuses on items in the game instead of the editor. While tutorial 22 focuses on reading data into the game. The tutorials are linked on the tutorials are on the Eyes of the Dragon page of the blog. Also, tutorial 21 can be found at this direct link. As well, tutorial 22 can be found at this direct link.
What’s Next
Up next will be a monster of a tutorial. Tutorial 23 was a two part tutorial on creating the map editor. I will be combining the two tutorials into one rather than have separate parts. Also, I will be using a different control for drawing the map. I will be trying a different approach when it comes to designing the form that I have taken before. I’m not sure how well it will work.
My Projects
Today I have been working on my game engine. It is a lot like MonoGame in its structure and functionality. I’m rather proud of what I’ve come up with so far. There are things that I still need to do but I could easily make a game with it as it is now. Being class based means it is not compatible with IE but it is fully compatible with newer browsers that support ES6. I am fine with that because the other browsers all work just fine on all currently supported operating systems.
Quintessential Duels is on my to do list this evening. I want to get started balancing the game. I want to make it more important to collect as many different cards as possible than to just collect 7 high powered cards. Making more of collectible card game than what it currently is. I still want to make it multiplayer but that will have to wait until version two.
Final Thoughts
Firstly, things have been greatly improved since Christmas. I am making excellent progress on my both my tutorials and my other projects. It is like a light switch was turned on that has opened up something that had been missing. So, keep visiting the blog for more tutorials and other goodness.
