MonoGame RPG Tutorial 24

MonoGame RPG Tutorial 24

I have just shared tutorial 24 in my MonoGame RPG tutorial series Eyes of the Dragon on my blog. This tutorial continues on with the level editor. The editor was working fine as it was. However, a major component was missing. There was no way to save a level and read it back in again. For that reason, this tutorial adds in that functionality. It required a fair bit of modification from the original tutorial because of the way the map is rendered. You can find the link to the tutorial on the Eyes of the Dragon 3.0 page of the blog. Also, you can find the tutorial using this direct link.

What’s Next

The next tutorial I will be working on is another Eyes of the Dragon tutorial. It will be another tutorial on the level editor, looking at the original. I am busy for a good chunk of tomorrow so I probably won’t get to it. Thursday I am pretty much open so I should be able to finish it on Thursday. After that tutorial I’m thinking of doing a web tutorial. One on creating a game engine rather than a game. I want to share Psi.io and I think a tutorial series would be well received.

My Projects

I was busy for most of the day, other than working on the tutorial, so I didn’t get a chance to work on my projects. This evening I plan on working on Quintessential Duels. I had an inspiration on how to fix the issue I caused yesterday when I was trying to balance the levels while I was settling in to bed. It should be really straight forward to implement. I will then be playing, uhm testing, the campaign to see if the balancing worked or not. Also, I have a plan on making the game multiplayer without a full blown server.

Final Thoughts

The MonoGame RPG tutorials are going well. I will be continuing on with them and I should finish the original tutorials by the end of the month. Porting the tutorials from XNA to MonoGame is almost complete. My projects are going well and I should be able to release Quintessential Duels by the end of next month.

So, keep visiting the blog for more tutorials and other goodness.
