I did take the time to work on a tutorial for a while today. I didn’t do Eyes of the Dragon like I was thinking yesterday. What I did work on the next MonoGame For The Absolute Beginner tutorial. As I mentioned before this tutorial is the first full game and it is a brick breaking game. It is similar to the classic game Breakout. The tutorial is 90% finished so it will be up on the site tomorrow for certain.
I converted most of the old XNA page to the new blog. Fixing styling issues is mostly what remains. The links all work as expected but I don’t like the format. It is mostly changing the CSS rules. I want to have that done tomorrow as well. I plan on updating all of the pages with better, more descriptive text.
What’s Next
The plan currently is to finish the eight beginner tutorial tomorrow. After that the plan is finish the next Eyes of the Dragon tutorial or perhaps start fresh because I’m not liking many things. I might work off the existing XNA tutorials and update them to MonoGame instead of using my Silver Prophet project. Even though it was based on Eyes of the Dragon I made a lot of changes.
My Projects
I did some work on Quintessential Duels today, the Windows version not the Android version. Actually it’s applicable to both because it is the tutorial on how to play. It is really just a bunch of images show what happens in different cases when you play a card. Like in Triple Triad there is the SAME and PLUS rule which are harder to explain in words than images or video. I would do video but I don’t like the playback options in MonoGame.
Final Thoughts
I’ve been distracted by something the past few days but that is over. I ended it because I didn’t like the direction it was going. I’m taking some online courses. A few of them on Godot. I’ve looked at it and I like it better than Unity. It has a smaller foot print and is still fairly cross-platform. I’ve also been looking at Roblox. I have some kids that are interested in making apps. My Lua is bad but I should be able to get it up to speed.
