MonoGame For The Absolute Beginner Eight
I have just finished uploading MonoGame For The Absolute Beginner Eight to the blog. In this tutorial we create our first fully functioning game. It is a brick breaking game similar to the classic game Breakout, one of the first video games. You can download the tutorial from the MonoGame Tutorials pages of the web site or you can use this direct link to download it.
What’s Next
I will be redoing the Eyes of the Dragon tutorials. I dug myself into a hole and it’s going to be too much of an effort to dig myself out. It will be better to start fresh from ground zero and implement things differently. Some of it will be transferable so the first few tutorials will go quickly. I will also be drawing from my old XNA tutorials rather than writing everything from scratch. I will also be continuing on with my MonoGame For The Complete Beginner tutorial series. The next tutorial will be on creating an Asteroids clone, another classic game.
My Projects
I haven’t worked on my projects yet today. Today I was busy watching lectures and other mundane things that have to be done. I will be taking the evening to work on Quintessential Duels. My plan is to work on the tutorial and maybe the options screen. Though, I might simplify things and not have a full options screen but have a drop down that allows for selection of different sounds and video preferences. I will not be working on Android for a few days because I can’t find a solution to a problem. It’s not the end of the world but it is annoying.
Final Thoughts
The blog is coming along well. I’ve been committed to making quality posts every day as well as working on a tutorial for at least part of the day most days. If there is a topic that you would like to see covered please leave a comment on the appropriate page and will be sure to do the topic justice. Keep coming back for the latest news on my tutorials.
